NBA icon Shaquille O’Neal has a profound love for the military and police. His late father Philips A. Harrison was a sergeant who made the 4x NBA champion a better human. Time and again Shaq has attempted to somehow join the police department after he retired from basketball. As per reports, the 51-year-old has often donated to various police departments across the country, especially to the injured officers. Thus, a sheriff from Ford Bend County decided to honor the LA legend for his timely contributions.

Shaquille O’Neal earns another badge of honor
Looks like Shaq is willing to add more trophies and badges to his name. Keeping his basketball accolades aside, the 51-year-old still has an impressive trophy collection. Now, Shaq might have added one of the biggest honors of his career. Coming directly from the police department, it’s safe to say that Shaq’s reputation has yet again hit a hike.
The 4x NBA champion now holds a Special Deputy badge from the Ford Bend County which symbolizes the “unity between sports legend and law enforcement”. Moreover, this badge is a recognition of Shaq’s effect on the economic growth of the county.

The sheriff also mentioned Shaq’s culinary trademark, the ‘Big Chicken’, which has helped to create more employment across the county and the nation as well. In a video shared by the police department, the Sheriff shared, “This is a man who is really tall, but his heart is even bigger. He does a lot of things, people don’t know about.”
In addition, Shaq ended the video on a high note as he shared, “If you guys need anything from me, you know where I’m at. For the kids, for the school…”. O’Neal’s connection to the police stretches back to his playing days in Miami.

Shaquille O’Neal’s unknown $1 job
Can you believe Shaq has been a part of the Miami PD since 2005? Even during his prime years in the NBA, the Los Angeles Lakers legend wanted to contribute to law enforcement.
As per reports, Shaq is a reserve officer with the Miami Beach PD and earns a staggering amount of $1 a year. In addition, he is also a reserve officer for the Los Angeles Port police. Furthermore, the 51-year-old was also a part of the LA Port Police recruitment video a few days ago.
