In 2023, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union stirred up a debate about equal roles in a relationship. The example of their marriage and a common financial arrangement ruffled a few feathers on social media. A section of Twitterati didn’t agree with this couple’s decision to split all household bills equally. Gabrielle has drawn from that year-old frenzy again to take a sarcastic jab at one commenter.

An X user posted, “B****s rather pay all her bills than to submit to a man and pay 50/50.” Union quoted that post with strong words of her own. “Wholeup wholeup wholeup… I thought 50/50 was no bueno. And wouldn’t 50/50 be “submitting” to one another? And what precisely do we need to do to not be considered a b***h?” she wrote.

After a celebrated career in Florida, the Miami Heat star relocated his family to Los Angeles for the comfort of his daughter, Zaya. Union stated they will pay for the home equally so Wade could never utter the phrase, “My house” again. Wade was on board with it.

He even defended their equal partnership on the podcast. “I understand what 50/50 means. 50/50 means that everything in life, you got your half and I got my half. We gon put this s**t together and try to make 100. That’s how 50/50 goes. That is not how our relationship works.” He added, “In our life, in our home, 50/50 means [we] purchase it together.”
