Dwyane Wade has been busy collecting dubs the last few months. From his Hall of Fame induction, and Miami Heat honor to his Versace campaign, his trajectory has been enviable. Recently, the NBA veteran sat down with W Magazine to talk about his latest campaign with Versace.
Wade recently launched his eyewear range with Versace, the pronunciation of which was a problem during his recent appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. After the clip of the two gentlemen going at it over how to properly say the name of the brand went viral, the 68-year-old business mogul cleared their doubts on Instagram.
As for his new collaboration with Donatella Versace, Wade said this has been a brilliant experience for him. He said, “I’ve met her over the years, but this is the first time I’ve gotten a chance to have real conversations, where we’re laughing and joking.” The 3x NBA champion said that their relationship has grown and gone through several positive changes over the years. He said, “I can sit across the table and really feel the vibe of Donatella. I’ve seen different [facets of] her over the course of this relationship.”

Although they are now in business, Wade believes this is only the beginning for them as they aim to do bigger things in the future. “Once we both got around each other, we were like, okay, we like this. Let’s see what else we can do together,” he added.

During his recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s show, Wade brought his new eyewear collection with Versace and that is where this confusion began. The host said, “You’re doing a new set of eyewear with Versace?” The NBA veteran quickly corrected Fallon with the correct pronunciation of the name before he proceeded to tell a story where he embarrassed himself. Wade said, “The same thing happened to me, Jimmy.”

Versace herself decided to put an end to the confusion. She posted the clip of their interaction on Instagram with the caption, “@dwyanewade on @fallontonight was 🔥🔥🔥 I’m ready to give you all lessons… it’s Versace not Versachee!” Wade broke it down phonetically in the comments of the post, helping others to grasp the right way to say the very popular name. He wrote, “Ver-Sa-CE”. Hopefully, Fallon also took notes from the Instagram post.
