It’s been around a year and five months since the NBA announced a disheartening message on behalf of Dikembe Mutombo. The NBA Global Ambassador, according to the league, was going into the treatment of brain cancer in “great spirits”. However, his fans have not heard him talk about his struggles. He’s always made appearances with a gleaming face on occasions after retirement. However, for quite a while now, there’s been no update from his family. The last piece of news was when the 8x NBA All-Star listed a mansion worth $6.8 million up for sale.
Whether it is related to his ongoing treatment in Atlanta or another humanitarian act, it’s still not in clear daylight. Here are some details about the location on a whopping 2-acre land. A report by Realtor last year suggested that the NBA Hall of Famer listed his Atlanta mansion that spreads to 13,000 feet of living space. The huge manor includes 11 bedrooms, 10.5 baths, a library, a kitchen, wine storage, parking for four cars, an outside guest house, and much more.

A huge entryway and a set of staircases meet you on the front, leading into the living room with a beautiful fireplace. The primary bedroom suite also includes a fireplace along with walk-in closets and many other features. The kitchen has a huge island layout completed with appliances. The villa also has a personal gym, sauna, salon, home theatre, elevator, and a game room for leisure time. There is a playground and a basketball court along with a kitchen on the outside for a good sunny day picnic or barbeque.
However, when it comes to his health, we have zero to no clue about it.
What do we know about Dikembe Mutombo and his treatment?
The last news heard back in October 2022 was from the NBA about Mount Mutombo. They said, “NBA Global Ambassador and Basketball Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo is currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumor. He is receiving the best care possible from a collaborative team of specialists in Atlanta and is in great spirits as he begins treatment. Dikembe and his family ask for privacy during this time so they can focus on his care. They are grateful for your prayers and good wishes.”

The family urged everyone to pray for the 8× NBA All-Star. No other news since then has come to light about how he is doing with the entire situation. In addition to this, the principal owner of Dikembe Mutombo’s Hawks — Tony Ressler — also talked about him in an interview. He said, “We know he will approach this challenge with the same determination and grit that have made him a legend on and off the court.”
Today, he continues bringing hope to the people of Congo through his foundation and hospital back in Kinshasa, DRC. In the meantime, we can only hope that his brain tumor successfully heals, and he has a happy, long life ahead.
