NBA and NBA2K often go hand-in-hand. Often, the selection of the cover star represents a player with great contributions to the league. Recently, 2K Sports revealed that five-time champion Kobe Bryant would highlight their latest game ‘NBA2K24’. Some fans were excited about the game but disappointed in the cover art. Despite some criticism, the cover managed to move the hearts of many Mamba fans, including Devin Booker.
Famously, when Booker had just joined the league, Bryant signed his shoes with the words ‘Be Legendary’. Since then, it’s hard to find a game where the Suns’ shooting guard isn’t donning Kobe’s shoes.

2K Sports’ official announcement confirmed the cover release of their upcoming game. The news quickly received a hoard of mixed reactions from the fans. While the disappointed public kept commenting on the issues with the cover art, many were emotional to see the late Kobe Bryant honored by the game.
It seems that Booker was also intent on honoring the Mamba. On March 24, 2017, D-Book dropped 70 against the Lakers’ storied rivals, the Boston Celtics. Surely his mentor must have been proud on that day.
Remembering the Hall-of-Famer, Booker shared the game’s announcement on his Instagram story.
The Phoenix Suns player has long idolized Bryant and was in fact the cover athlete for the game’s previous iteration. For Booker’s iconic 2K23 cover to be followed up by his mentors is a truly historic moment for the 26-year-old.
