There are two places close to Sir Charles. Alabama is where he grew up and went to college. Arizona, where he spent the best seasons of his career and has a residence in. But when it comes to advertising to others, Charles Barkley spills the truth. He was on The Next Round show to talk all about the Auburn Tigers team and his new business. And he took a moment to give his review about Arizona.

Barkley is loved dearly by Arizona, and he loves it back too. He has set his roots there in a big way. But there’s one drawback of the Grand Canyon State that will knock off half a star from The Round Mound of Rebound.

The Round Mound of Rebound is Alabama born-and-bred, and he’s spending the weekend in his home state to cheer for the Auburn Tigers football team. Once the game wraps this Sunday, Charles Barkley can’t wait to go back to his home in Arizona.

The hosts of The Next Round were all praise for Arizona, which they visited during the best time of the year. That’s when Barkley chimed in, “Hey, I tell people eight months a year, Arizona is perfect.”

After an acrimonious divorce from the Philadelphia 76ers, Chuck signed with the Phoenix Suns. He played here from 1992 to 1996 and set roots in Scottsdale even after he went to Houston for the rest of his NBA career.

Barkley and his wife, Maureen, raised their daughter, Christiana, in Scottsdale on their expansive property. Spanning approximately 8,600 square feet, the Barkley haven is valued at around $4.14 million. While residing in his luxurious abode, Barkley enjoys the perks of Arizona’s pleasant weather for the majority of the year and indulges in his favorite sport of golf.

As one of the hosts of The Next Round put it, he’d move to Arizona, “If I had your money.” Barkley would encourage it, but he also has a warning for anyone who was fooled by Arizona’s usual sunny disposition. “It’s 70 degrees every day, no humidity, you play golf in October, November, December in shorts. Now it’s hot as hell for three months a year, I will admit. But for eight months a year it’s perfect.”

Chuck isn’t kidding. Scottsdale is under red flag warning as severe thunderstorms pelt the city this week. Apart from strong winds and heavy downpour, Scottsdale residents also experienced hailstorms. Meanwhile, Auburn has fair weather ahead of the big game.

Sir Charles is experiencing hometown weather

This isn’t the first time recently Arizona’s hot weather bothered the Suns’ legend. He spent time with his daughter and grandchildren in Phoenix, but took the first chance out of the city to cool down.

Barkley dished about supporting the Auburn Tigers on The Next Round, though he’s been iffy about the team’s offensive line. The Tigers are taking on the defending national champions, the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday and the Auburn alum is nervous about the odds.

He’s going to party it up on Friday at Auburn ahead of the big game. But once that’s done, “I’m taking my big a*s back to Arizona.” Despite the severe weather warning, he said, “I can’t wait to get back to that 100-degree weather.” Fingers crossed that Arizona cools down soon to receive their local legend.
