Despite Controversial Fallout With Suns, 7x NBA Champ Leaves Sour Memory Behind for 21YO Son

Robert Horry is set to make a comeback to Phoenix. The 7x NBA champion has had a very twisted relationship with the city. However, despite his controversial past, Horry will soon be going back there for his son. This is one of those NBA history moments that often slip out of the minds of fans.

However, Horry has reminded the fans of his beef with Danny Ainge a few times on social media. Recently, he talked about going to Phoenix for his son’s upcoming game on his podcast Big Shot Bob.

NBA players have had some memorable beef in the past. Be it between teammates, rivals, fans, and even coaches, the league has seen it all. We have witnessed Michael Jordan‘s beef with Isiah Thomas and have experienced the gravity of it. Despite being two of the all-time greats of this game, the two have bad blood between them even today. Charles Barkley‘s beef with the Denver Nuggets mascot, Rocky is another iconic feud that has been ongoing for over three decades now. Horry’s feud with Ainge can be mentioned in the same breath as other iconic beefs.

When Horry was with the Phoenix Suns back in 1996, Ainge was the coach of the team. During one of the games, they had a verbal argument which ended up with Horry throwing a towel on his face, in front of the crowd, all the players, and the cameras. While a lot of time has passed since then, the feud is still alive. Recently, Horry was asked on his podcast if he will be going to Atlanta for the upcoming game. The 7x NBA champion said that as much as he’d want to, he will have to miss out on this one.

Robert Horry refreshed the memory of his beef last year

Going by his actions, Horry doesn’t seem to be someone who will let go of anything. Last year, when the clip of him throwing the towel in Ainge’s face resurfaced, a fan had asked him on Twitter (Now X), if he wished the towel was bigger or he had thrown a bit harder. The NBA veteran had a staunch response to it. He said he wished it was a brick in his hands instead of a towel.

Despite such a twisted relationship with the coach of the Phoenix franchise, Horry is putting everything aside to attend his son’s game.
