The Wednesday night matchup between cross-city rivals the LA Lakers and the LA Clippers gave fans a sense of nostalgia. While the game felt one-sided until the fourth quarter, LeBron James and Co. thought it was enough and pulled up their socks to stun their neighbors. However, no one was as disappointed by the Clippers losing to the Lakers as the former teammate of LeBron, Kendrick Perkins. While Big Perk has always been one of LeBron’s biggest fans, it seems he lost out on some money to NFL legend Shannon Sharpe.

The former Boston Celtics center openly showed his displeased front to his X followers after the Lakers took the lead late in the fourth. He tweeted, “This Mf LeBron just took over this damn game. Come on Kawhi!!! Fight back.” While Kawhi Leonard did score 26 points for the Clippers, it was not good enough against King James, who caught fire in the final quarter.

He was clearly furious over the turn of events, as just six minutes later, he again gave his X followers something to talk about. He posted, “Jay-Z in the front row… I’ve should have known better! This damn 39 year old senior citizen just put on a damn masterpiece on both ends of the floor. God Bless America!” It is funny how Kendrick even took a shot at Jay-Z’s friendship with LeBron.

All this frustration seems to have come out due to him possibly placing a bet on the Clippers. Just before these tweets, when the Clippers were running away with the game, Perkins quote tweeted Shannon Sharpe’s tweet criticizing the Lakers’ defense.

The 39-year-old wrote, “Man ain’t nobody trying to hear that @ShannonSharpe. just get ready to pay your bet!!!! Carry the hell on…” LeBron’s stunning performance warranted such a reaction, though.

Entering the final quarter, the game seemed like a foregone conclusion with the Clippers up 96-77. But that’s when The King decided to take over. He made 5 threes just in the fourth quarter, while the Clippers suddenly went cold. LeBron James recorded 34 points, out of which 19 came in the fourth, along with 8 assists, and 6 rebounds.

His partner Anthony Davis followed him with 20 points and 12 rebounds. D’Angelo Russell and Rui Hachimura also displayed good performances with 18 points and 17 points, respectively.

A Lakers game is always interesting, especially against their floor-sharers, the LA Clippers. Nevertheless, it proved to be a big win for the Lakers in what is a tough stretch of games. After Wednesday night’s game, the Lakers have a 32-28 record and the Clippers have a better 37-20. It will be exciting to see how the Kawhi-LeBron rivalry moves past this point. Do you agree with Kendrick’s reaction?
