Rashad McCants had a very short-lived career. The ex-NBA star was the 14th overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Although his talent was undeniable at the time, Rashad’s career couldn’t go any further than 2009, when he last represented the Sacramento Kings.

The 39-year-old, during a recent conversation, shed light on the reason why his career was cut short. Believe it or not, Rashad has someone else to blame for it, and not just his career but his personal life too.

Rashad and Khloe Kardashian started dating at the end of 2008. However, things didn’t go well for them for too long, and Khloe announced that they had broken up in 2009. Now, there were a lot of rumors surrounding their breakup; one that came from inside the camp was that their schedules were so hectic that it was becoming difficult for them to keep up with it. However, Rashad has a different version of the story that also involves Lamar Odom.

During the recent conversation, McCants said that he used to have an agent at the time who was constantly pushing him to “dump” Khloe. The agent believed that being with her would harm the basketball player’s career. After some time, Rashad caved in and broke up with Khloe. He said, “Once I broke up with her, Three weeks later, Lamar picked her up and was marrying her six days after those three weeks.”

However, weeks later, when Lamar Odom married Khloe, Rashad got to know that his agent, who was also Odom’s agent, and he attended their wedding. This was when he realized that he was being toyed with and decided to fire the agent. Rashad also believes that the agent then went on to pull some plugs that ended up costing Rashad his NBA career.

Rashad believes that he was blackballed after he fired the agent and that led to his career in the NBA coming to a halt in 2009. He thinks that he was played by the agent into believing that his relationship with Khloe was career-threatening but that backfired on him. As per the ex-NBA star, his agent was one of the top agents in the league and had a lot of connections and that is why he was able to ensure that no team extended a contract to him.
