Due to their personalities, NBA players tend to get into controversies pretty often. In the case of Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley, the frequency for them is much higher. As a result, a regular TNT episode became a prime opportunity for Shaq to remind Chuck of one of his biggest controversies. But, that is the bond that the two icons and Hall of Famers share.
While discussing the Milwaukee Bucks versus San Antonio Spurs matchup, Chuck was on a tear about the Bucks’ struggles. Echoing some of Kendrick Perkins’ comments earlier in the week, Barkley, too, had some questions about their defense.
However, at that moment in time, Shaq would raise a piece of paper. 3 simple words, and a myriad of memories for Charles, who would receive a genuine blast from the past of one of his more infamous incidents. “San Antonio Women” is all that was written on the paper. But that was more than enough for the 1994 NBA MVP.

Unfortunately, the entire scene was a setup for the Chuckster. “San Antonio, it’s a business down there, Shaq. I’m surprised Victor Wembanyama ain’t gain like 22,000, all this time there, eating all these churros.” Ultimately, the Los Angeles Lakers legend had to put a stop to Barkley’s antics. “That’s enough Chuck, that’s enough.”

Shaquille O’Neal reminds Charles Barkley of the San Antonio incident
Throughout his NBA tenure, both as a player and on TNT, Charles hasn’t been shy in his commentary about the women of San Antonio. As a complementary piece to his discourse about the food in Texas, and the kind of health it promotes, Barkley is often harsh when discussing the women from the region.
It went so far that he even resorted to calling them “fat” with O’Neal joining him in the “hilarious” joke. That same discourse has continued when discussing Wembanyama as well. Early on in his career, when questions about his physique were paramount, Charles made it a point to not give credence to them.

According to him, being skinny wouldn’t remain a problem for Wemby once he made the move to San Antonio. Unfortunately, with Shaq’s reminder, it looks like that dark page in the show’s history is back.
