As surprising as it is, many children don’t see their famous parents as idols. Remember how Ronaldo’s son is a Messi fan? The same is the case with Carmelo Anthony. Now Anthony and La La split in 2021, but continue to support their 17-year-old son on his basketball journey. In a recent post from Complex’s GOAT TALK, the mother-son duo was asked about who the greatest basketball player of all time is. And guess what? Kiyan did not choose his father Carmelo Anthony, which irked his mother. Instead, he looks up at Paul George.
On the recent episode of Jennifer Hudson Show, La La was promoting the latest season of the series
BMF. She also spoke about her son, who is learning to drive in the busy streets of New York, which has her all worried about him. Hudson, the show’s host, asked if La La gives basketball tips to her son. To this, La La replied, “On the court I’m I’m a crazy mom.“ADVERTISEMENT

Crazy like ‘what you say about my son?!’ like crazy and he’s (Kiyan) always like, ‘Mom, relax relax’.” She explains the feeling is very different, as she is ready to defend her child for any length. “When it’s your child playing like, it’s a different feeling like you ready to go to war for your kid.“ADVERTISEMENT

Carmelo and La La Anthony on raising their son
Both La La and Carmelo Anthony have always believed in their son’s potential. Without forcing him to change anything about himself, Kiyan also shared how his father does not push him to sign for any team. Rather, he asks him to carve out his own path to success in the NBA.
“My story has always been more than basketball. My legacy, my son, it’s in you. I will forever continue through you because the time has come for you to carry this torch. Chase your dreams, let nothing hold you back,” said Anthony.
Now La La is very big on family and support from a close group of friends. She believes it is important for Kiyan to have open communication because life will always throw you some curve balls. Kiyan also believes in and praises her mother for being his best friend. La La believes her son will be a great basketball player. But right now, more importantly, he is a loving son and an amazing human being.
