Most people would hesitate to take financial advice from a known gambler. But Charles Barkley had sound advice for the dearest person in his life. ‘Sir Charles’ has come a long way from his rough youth. He’s raked in the money from his NBA playing days through his broadcasting career. With all that money in the bank, he made a series of decisions to ensure the security of his family, especially his only child. Barkley is a beaming dad and a proud grandfather, and he’s going to make sure they have no troubles.
We don’t want to imagine a day without Charles Barkley, but the millionaire has. While on The Bill Simmons Podcast, he’d reveal he’s made so much money, that he had to take extra measures to secure his daughter’s financial future from certain people eyeing it.

Charles Barkley goes the extra mile for his daughter
After leaving the world of multi-million NBA contracts in 2000, Charles Barkley moved to the sportscasting business. His current spot on TNT’s Inside the NBA cost the network $100 million. After a successful career, Barkley is content with riding off into the sunset and enjoy being a granddad for the rest of his days.
Barkley and his wife, Maureen Blumhardt have one daughter, Christiana. The NBA legend’s only daughter is also a journalist. She and her husband, Ilya Hoffman are parents to two children.
Chuck said, “I have one kid, my daughter, she’s the greatest thing ever,” on Bill Simmons’ podcast. He told the host that when his daughter was marrying Hoffman, he congregated with his financial and legal advisers to draft a watertight prenuptial agreement for her. “And they were just telling me how much money the government’s gonna fu** me out of when I die.”

That made Barkley pause and claim that he’s already paid the money. His advisors said, “When you die, they gonna come back with their hands out,” which Barkley cried is unfair.
He said he argued with the people making his daughter’s prenup. Their response was, “Chuck, our government are just crooks.”
Barkley had this tip for his daughter
Barkley is one of many parents who wish their life’s earnings would go to their children without issues. He was not happy to hear about the government potentially interfering in Christiana’s inheritance when he’s gone. But his advisers said, “You pay taxes on this money, but when you die, they gonna come back and get another couple handfuls.”

He confirmed to Simmons that is the reason he made a “great will.” He’d go on to inform the host that you could only “hide so much” in a trust which he apparently set up for his daughter.

He was explaining the same to his daughter and offered the best advice to have the least trouble. “It’s a shame, your dad leaving you some of this money. But don’t forget you gotta pay your taxes.” Write it down: Barkley said pay your taxes.
