‘Winning Time’ is back after the success of Season 1

After the incredible success of Season 1, “Winning Time: The Rise Of The Lakers Dynasty” is back for a second season. While the first season did attract some controversy for its factual inaccuracies and unfair depictions of real-life entities, the renewal was announced in April 2022. After all, the show racked up a positive review leading to its renewal only 5 episodes in. With a rotten tomato score of 84%, the series did quite well when considering the immense backlash it faced at the start.

Having ended season 1 with Magic Johnson (Quincy Isaiah) winning the title during his rookie year, season 2 will be more centered on the building of the Lakers dynasty. With particular focus on the inner workings of the ownership involved.

With Season 1 depicting the 1979-80 NBA season, the second iteration is set to cover the years until 1984. This will also cover Magic’s rivalry with nemesis Larry Bird, whose house he once visited for a fascinating reason.

Revealing the crux of the second season, co-creator of the show Max Borenstein expressed that the next season would follow a similar pace to the first. Disclosing that it would tell the following piece of the story Max stated.

“The next piece involves Paul Westhead and Pat Riley, and a struggle Magic has that next year.”

Fans express their excitement as the new trailer drops

Releasing on August 6th, 2023, the first look trailer of season 2 is officially out.

A compelling excerpt of the show, the latest drop had fans riled up as many couldn’t contain their excitement. Fans were in awe as they watched bits and fragments of the upcoming season. One comment stated, “damn i’m stoked for the new season. this is one of the best trailers i’ve ever seen for anything.”

While the inaccuracies presented in the first season bothered some, most viewers couldn’t care less. This can be seen in this comment which said, “Ok, it?s not the most accurate but this is one of the most entertaining shows on television. I?m looking forward to season 2.”
