Oscar De La Hoya was one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. He even fought the legendary Floyd Mayweather in his career. Recently, he made an appearance on a talk show and was asked what he thought about Shaquille O’Neal’s stint as a boxer with him. Turns out he was impressed by the four-time champion’s ability to throw hands inside of a ring.
De La Hoya said, “This guy is like seven something. He has to be like 250 pounds. So I had to use my speed, I was boxing him. I think I won the fight. He can be a contender definitely.” Hoya was convinced if Shaq was to train for a few months diligently, he could do some serious damage to his opponents inside of a ring, even at the age of 51 years old.
It was reported that the NBA Hall of Famer has had some struggles with his health since retiring from the NBA. One might express concern if Shaq actually suits up for a boxing bout with his brand-new hips.
