Father Time stands victorious yet again. 39-year-old Andre Iguodala has finally decided to step down as Earth’s protector from the aliens. After a successful 19 years in the league and four championships, Andre Iguodala has decided to hang up his jersey. Iguodala announced his retirement from professional basketball earlier today and joined in with First Take to share his thoughts.

While talking to Stephen A. Smith after announcing his retirement. He revealed his plans for the future and earlier during a conversation with Andscape, he revealed the reason behind his retirement.

Now that he is retired, he wants to spend more time with his family. He knows that he won’t be able to contribute to the team as much as he did in previous years as he gets older. So he now wants to step back, enjoy his life a bit, and focus on newer things.

Iguodala said to Andscape, “It’s just the right time. Time started to get limited for me, and I didn’t want to put anything in the back seat. I didn’t want to have to try to delegate time anymore. Especially on the court, off the court with family. A lot.”

Andre is now looking forward to the next stage in his career, and surprisingly, it is not basketball-related. During ESPN’s First Take, he revealed that though he is not closing the doors for getting into a coaching position in the future, he is now focused on his investing firm, MOSAIC.

He has played 1231 games in the NBA and averaged 11.3 PPG, 4.9 RPG, and 4.2 APG. His veteran leadership will be missed by the Warriors, as there are still many young talents on the team. But it is now time for Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to take up the mantle and guide the youngsters.

The owner of the Golden State Warriors said in 2019 that they would retire Igudala’s No. 9 jersey. With a finals MVP to his name along with his one-time All-Star selection, it’s not long before he makes it to the Hall of Fame.
