The Phoenix Suns have enjoyed a major upheaval. Starting with the ownership and now, to the coaching and roster itself, the Suns have a brand new look. Since taking over, Matt Ishbia has taken the Suns from a middle-of-the-pack team to straight-up title contenders. The first move was the Kevin Durant trade. Then, the firing of coach Monty Williams for Frank Vogel. Well, the coach firing isn’t just a Suns issue. Anyway, following the coaching change, the Suns engaged in another blockbuster trade – acquiring Bradley Beal for Chris Paul.
However, the moves left them without any cap space left to spend on the rest of the roster. Somehow though, the Suns have still done an adequate job of filling in the gaps this off-season. Now, their latest target has received an endorsement from the most dominant player in NBA history, Shaquille O’Neal.

The NBA has seen a lot of “unicorns” over the last few years. However, few of them have ever panned out. While Victor Wembanyama takes center stage, a bevy of previous iterations stand on the wayside. Whether Kristaps Porzingis or Thon Maker, each of whom has been successful to varying degrees in the NBA. But the fan’s favorite unicorn is probably the legendary shot blocker Manute Bol’s son, Bol Bol.
While he’s been a bench warmer for most of his career, last season was the best of Bol’s young career. In Orlando, he started 33 games during the regular season. Last season, he was traded away from Denver, so he could get out of Nikola Jokic’s shadow and earn more minutes of playing time.
Shaquille O’Neal seems to have taken notice of his growth, further highlighting Bol’s true potential in his latest Threads post. In a draft that included the likes of Ja Morant and Zion Williamson, the former Lakers big man chose Bol Bol as the player he would want to build around.
