The struggle for equality has been a long and arduous one. While steps towards improvement have come, a long journey still remains. So, the least that can be done is to raise one’s voice against the gap. And, who better to fight a battle of the people, than a man of the people? Throughout his tenure, as a player and as a pop culture icon, Shaquille O’Neal has been an ally to everyone.

As a result, the megastar is usually ahead of an issue. Moreover, he’s constantly willing to take action and voice his opinions, regardless of how bold they might be. Now, it seems like his family has joined the cause.

The younger O’Neal has seen a shocking turn of events over his career. From the famed successor of Shaq to G-Leaguer, Shareef has seen it all. Amidst a terrifying heart condition and underwhelming stints at LSU and UCLA, O’Neal hasn’t lost his confidence.

In the inaugural Next Up Game, the youngster plans to convince an NBA team to take a chance on him. However, at the same time, he continues to be a solid brother to Me’arah. While her college options hang in the balance, the youngest daughter to Shaq is already turning heads.

As a baller, she has quickly become a dominant presence. Recently, she was part of the AAU circuit. There to support her, of course, was brother Shareef. As he shared on his IG story, he had some interesting observations about the state of the tournament.

“It’s more impressive than what I went through when I was playing AAU…We never had this many teams, this many courts being there…It’s awesome to see my sister is part of that. It’s awesome to see these young girls chasing their dreams and all the coaches here…”

As the state for women’s basketball continues to grow, with the college game rivaling, and even outclassing, the men’s counterpart, perhaps there might be a change in the narrative incoming. Without a doubt, there will be one man either echoing or fighting for Shareef’s stance.

Diesel?has been a prominent supporter of women’s basketball for quite some time. Whether it was due to the insane popularity of his alma mater’s Angel Reese or his own daughter on the come-up, the Los Angeles Lakers legend has always spoken openly about his admiration for the women on the court.

Moreover, he was extremely angry at the gap between the pay scale for men and women. While he often berates NBA talent, Shaq didn’t mince words when talking about the difference in salaries. Calling certain guys “not worth it”,?O’Neal laid into how such men were earning up to $40 million for their play.

In the meanwhile, the women’s side could barely crack $700K. Needless to say, the legend was annoyed. Thankfully, with more prominent voices joining the cause, the change shouldn’t be much farther away. Maybe someday soon, we can see a respectable amount of funds be allocated to the women’s sport side as well. We know for sure that the O’Neal family will celebrate such a milestone day.
