Since last season’s playoffs, it has been building. The entire Draymond Green timeline has been wild from the start. But, throughout that time, the 2x DPOY has had one staunch supporter in his corner – Shaquille O’Neal. Harking back to his era as being more physical, the 7-footer didn’t see much wrong with Green’s actions and called out double standards.
But now, he’s going a step beyond that as well. Instead of defending Draymond, he finds an issue with the “victim” in the entire scenario, Jusuf Nurkic. “He’s talking about pressing charges against Draymond Green. Now, I have a problem with that. Because, one, it shows me how soft you are as a big man. I’mma just keep it there. I’m not gonna go too deep into it.”

“But if you do that, you’re gonna rue what I created in the Big Man Alliance. The reason Draymond hit you, sir, is because he knows you’re not gonna hit him back. So, for you to say, uh, uh, uh, I wanna call the cops and press charges?”
But the Los Angeles Lakers legend wasn’t done. Calling Nurkic “soft”, he implied that he should not crib but do something about it. “So, for you to even think about saying you’re pressing charges, you’re soft. And that is something I would say to your face if I saw you.” Finally, the 4x NBA Champion would throw some advice his way. “You can’t press charges, you just gotta get your big a** up and hit somebody back.”
Moreover, trying to find help from his teammates makes it even worse, in the big man’s opinion. “How about that? With your big soft a**. Don’t be all on the floor, ‘Kevin [Durant], uh, Kevin, call the cops, he needs help.’ No, he don’t need help. You need help. Cuz you just soft. And big guys shouldn’t be soft.”
Instead of finding sympathy for the Bosnian, Shaq used his past and NBA history to support his argument.

To his credit, the 7-footer would do exactly as he is preaching to the Phoenix Suns big man. “Bro, did I press charges when Charles [Barkley] hit me with a ball in the face?” He wasn’t done with the examples, either. “Did anybody from Michael Jordan when he fought Reggie Miller…did anybody press charges?”
The entire saga with Green has been a wild one from start to finish. While the Nurkic incident in isolation might not be as bad, in totality, it points to a bigger problem. Earlier, the 2000 NBA MVP was ready to bring in Dennis Rodman as a simile for Draymond’s trajectory.
