It’s not new for big-name celebrities and personalities to dip their toes into the restaurant business. Players across sports like Aaron Rodgers, Shaquille O’Neal, and Yao Ming also have their own restaurants. Even influencers are getting into this in the current generation, like MrBeast Burger and Doughbrik’s Pizza. But back during his prime, 6x NBA champion Michael Jordan opened his first of many restaurants in Chicago. The restaurant was named ‘Michael Jordan’s Restaurant’. Decades later now, His Airness looks set to follow in the footsteps of O’Neal.

Initially, Michael Jordan didn’t have ownership in this restaurant, and the owners just obtained the right to use his name from him. Later in 1998, the Chicago Bulls legend partnered with the Glazier family, and with their help, he opened the first-ever ‘Michael Jordan’s Steak House‘, in New York City.

MJ’s restaurant is always keen on delivering the best steak to all its customers. Quality is its most crucial selling point, apart from its name. Although it received negative reviews in the early days with people calling it “a tourist trap that draws visitors from the unbelievable popularity of its namesake,” things have come a long way and the steak house is currently one of the best in all of America. It uses USDA Prime Steaks in order to provide the highest-quality steaks. Along with steak, they also provide fine wine and tequila at the place.

Recently, the steak house announced that it would be adding weekend-only breakfast items to its menu. This includes ‘MJ?s Fried Chicken and Waffles topped with Sriracha Maple Syrup’. They also added ‘Poblano pepper hash along with a steak and egg dish‘. There will also be items that are only available at the bar; guests can sip cocktails like ‘The Jumpman‘ or ‘The Red Sunset‘ with brunch options.

Shaq mentioned that he is working to open over 300 locations in the USA in the coming years. It’s safe to assume that no other NBA athlete will be able to challenge Shaq in the food industry in the near future.
