Shaquille O’Neal has led a great professional career. The 19 years spent with the big league saw him being named as a 15× NBA All-Star, while Shaq is a 4x NBA Champion and a member of the NBA Hall of Fame as well. While he garnered much success on the basketball court, he couldn’t say the same when it came to his marriage.

It’s been 12 years since the former Los Angeles Lakers player separated from his wife, Shaunie Henderson. Fans of the player, however, still keep tab on the latest happenings of his ex.

Shaunie indirectly references Shaq through an Instagram post

Shaunie recently took to Instagram to share a series of photos of her recent trip to Italy. The first one showed her locked in arms with her husband, pastor Keion Henderson, whom she married last year. The couple were all smiles as they posed for the camera. People were mesmerized with the snap of the couple.

Shaunie had also attached a photo and video, showing the streets of Italy, in the same post thread. The very last picture that the TV personality attached certainly caught the attention of a few people.

Instead of showing the beautiful scenery of the European country or another glimpse of the loving couple, the picture carried a quote on it. It read:

“Someday, all the love you’ve given to the wrong people will find it’s way back to you in someone who’s waited their whole life for your kind of love.”

While the quote can be interpreted as an appreciation for her new husband, it can also be considered as an indirect jab at the NBA legend.

Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie’s relationship

The basketball player started dating his future wife in 1998 and married her four years later. Apart from the four children that the couple had through the course of their relationship, Shaunie has a son, Myles, from a previous relationship – while Shaq himself has a daughter from an ex-girlfriend.

The duo seemed to be the perfect couple to the rest of the world. It is tough, however, for outsiders to know the reality of the situation and what went on in the confines of their private life.

The couple’s marriage eventually deteriorated to the point that Shaq had to file for divorce in September 2007. Despite a short reconciliation soon after, a divorce was finalized in 2011.

While the reason for their separation has never been disclosed by either of them, Shaq has given interviews where he has placed the blame solely on himself and no one else. On one occasion, DJ Diesel has himself admitted to being “a serial cheater”.
