Stephen A. Smith is a prominent figure in the behind-the-scenes-world of NBA. Being one of the few to not be fired by ESPN a few months ago, Smith has been rising in popularity. Not only does he keep his viewers informed but also provides his own fiery opinions in regards to the game. He previously boasted his connection to Michael Jordan. But this time, he’s stepped it up.

Smith provided his take on the much heated GOAT debate, backtracking on a flex that he made a few days prior to the same.

Recently, a thread on Twitter/X featured a segment from Stephen A. Smith?s online show. During the same, the TV personality admitted that LeBron James ?statistically? had a better career than Michael Jordan. Averaging a similar number of points, LBJ reached four more NBA finals and allegedly accumulated more wealth on the court .

According to Smith, when compared on certain foundations, the Los Angeles Lakers star was better than the Bulls legend.

?So you could make a legitimate argument that he (LeBron) had a better career in terms of statistics and what have you, depends on how you look at it? said Stephen A. Smith during the particular segment.

Perplexingly, Smith previously stated ?My mind, on this specific topic will never change. LeBron James is number two all-time and Michael Jordan is number one.”?Does this mean his mind has changed or was Smith just playing Devil’s advocate?

?In a NORMAL World, that means LeBron is the GOAT ? but, do we REALLY expect a man that has MJ on speed-dial to publicly say it and upset him??

 

After all, Smith recently flexed how the Chicago Bulls legend reached out to the ESPN commentator personally.

It all started when the sports journalist was engaged in a debate about who is the greatest Point Guard player in the history of the NBA: Los Angeles Lakers star Magic Johnson or Golden State Warriors player Stephen Curry.

While Smith took the side of Curry, his co-host Chris ?Mad Dog? Russo supported Magic. Before heading deep into the conversation, Smith took a moment to read out a message that he received at 5:44 in the morning from His Airness himself.

While stating that ?Johnson is easily the best PG of all-time,? the message also had MJ stating, ?Steph Curry is very close, but not in front.?

The text message came as a surprise to Smith?s co-hosts as it revealed that he was well acquainted with the former player. Despite that fact, however, Smith chose to side with LeBron James when it name to naming the ?greatest player of all time?.
