After Devastating Fire Takes 36 Lives in Hawaii, Magic Johnson, Dwyane Wade and Thousands More Join Hands in Prayer

Hawaii, a peaceful island rich in flora and fauna, is suffering the unprecedented wrath of nature. Destructive wildfires have swarmed all over the island of Maui, disrupting the life of the islanders. It is an effect of the rampaging Hurricane Dora winds. During these depressing times, NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson extended his prayers.

The Los Angeles Lakers great, who is an avid traveler, mentioned his sorrow regarding the tragedy. Additionally, he is holding the name of Maui in his prayers. He joined fellow former NBA star Dwyane Wade in offering prayers.

Magic Johnson reacts to the unpleasant times in Hawaii

The situation in Hawaii has left destruction in its path. The aggressive winds have eaten the lively island. According to The Independent, the calamity reported at least 36 casualties. The locals, ranging from the elderly to children, had to plunge into the ocean to seek safety. It was a “war zone” as the locals saw it.

Millions have dedicated their thoughts and prayers to Hawaii amid the natural calamity. The latest to the list was basketball icon and 5x NBA champion Magic Johnson. An enthusiastic traveler himself, Magic spoke about visiting the islands regularly. Moreover, he also stated he and his wife Cookie are sending their positivity during these gloomy times.

“Cookie and I are praying for everyone in Maui, and the surrounding Hawaiian Islands, affected by the devastating wildfires! I absolutely love Maui and have been visiting the island for over 30 years,” wrote the Lakers legend. 

Previously, even Dwyane Wade, known for his humanity and kindness, reverberated a heartfelt message to the islanders. He wrote, “My family and I are In prayer for our Hawaii family!”

The locality boasted a friendly neighborhood living in harmony. Unfortunately, due to the unprecedented wildfires, millions have been displaced from their homes. Properties turned to ashes due to the burning flames. The colorful streets are now crowded with the carcass’ of vehicles. There was only one escape, a single highway that thousands of locals had.

Worst of all, the wildfires wiped out the historic town of Lahaina. “We just had the worst disaster I’ve ever seen. All of Lahaina is burnt to a crisp. It’s like an apocalypse,” a resident of the town said.
