A trend that began under the San Antonio Spurs regime, load management remains problematic for the NBA. The Spurs’ success has led other teams down the same path. But its emergence comes to the chagrin of former NBA players and legends. Despite a rule change by the NBA, the trend doesn’t seem to have an end soon. While Charles Barkley continues to criticize players resting out, the injury frequency to begin the year has many people wondering. Now, Kevin Garnett has come out with his thoughts on the matter.

Questioning the validity of these “injuries,”?KG has his doubts on the entire matter.

Since the season began, multiple stars have already sat out a number of games. But, for each of them, the official reasons are due to some form of injury. However, is that the case really?

The Big Ticket?himself isn’t fully buying it. On his podcast and then on X as well, the former Defensive Player of the Year made his doubts perfectly clear. Firstly, on X, Kevin wrote, “Imma keep it 100, it?s way too many dudes sitting out with injuries this early in the season? guys not taking proper care of they body or this the new form of ‘load management?'”?

But he had made his doubts clear before that. On the KG Certified?podcast, Garnett spoke about his theories. “That’s another thing I wanted to highlight. We have so many guys hurt early early. We just came out of f***ing training camp, we just came out of a summer. Guys sitting out 2-3 games with a back or a leg or a knee or…”?

While on most occasions such comments might feel exaggerated, the frequency and multitude of injuries are a cause for concern either way. Despite the league’s best efforts, there hasn’t been a radical shift in players’ availability.

Charles Barkley questioned player’s intentions

While he did make clear that he did not want players to participate while suffering from an injury, the validity of those injuries remains in question. “If you’re injured, don’t play. But, everybody hurts after the first 2 weeks of the season. Your leg’s sore, your knee’s sore.”?

Further, the Philadelphia 76ers legend reiterated his stance about players’ availability. “If you’re injured, I don’t want you to play.”?From there on, Chuck would move on to his rant about the amount the players are making these days.
