The Mamba, Kobe ‘Bean’ Bryant was famous for remaining unfazed when the lights were at their brightest. His ability to zone in and get the job done made him one of the league’s most elite closers. But playing out his career in Los Angeles meant that the 5-time champion had to have come across some funny characters. Recently, one such personality spoke about the time he left the Mamba stunned.
During an interview, a Hollywood legend recalled a prank he did during an NBA game. A prank that left the late Kobe Bryant wondering what was going on.

Lakers champion escorted out of Staples Center?
Back in 2013, a match was being held between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns at the Staples Center in LA. For fans who were present to witness a normal, easygoing match, a surprise was awaiting. Both, the commentators and spectators, were taken aback after glancing at legendary actor and comedian Will Ferrell. Positioned at the edge of the court, Ferrel had dressed as a security guard.
The actor played the part, acting fully observant and doing his best to not smile or laugh. Donning a mustache similar to his character from ‘Anchorman: The Legend Continues,’ the actor’s presence acted as a source of amusement and bewilderment for everyone.
The highlight of the ‘act’ occurred when Will Ferrell ‘ejected’ Kobe’s former teammate Shaquille O’Neal from the court by asking him to get up. He even played the part of escorting him out to perfection.
One can imagine the fear that he was fighting. After all, asking 7’1 Shaq to leave the stadium where he won a three-peat is not an easy task. Thankfully, the iconic actor kept his cool. In fact, his performance was so convincing that it had Kobe at a loss for words.
Will Ferrell surprised Kobe Bryant with his act
The actor recently made an appearance for an interview with actor and comedian Kevin Hart. Amongst the various topics discussed, Will touched upon this viral moment and provided some background.
Will approached the story by describing his reaction upon receiving the full security guard outfit as a gift from film director Chris Henchy. Upon glancing at the uniform, he knew that he had to wear it at a Lakers game.
“So I bundled up the coat and I went through, my ticket,” said Ferrell when describing how he gained entry into the game. “I wore the pants and the tie, and I was sitting there”. After a while, when he felt ready, the actor put on the tie and jacket and took his position.
When Hart asked him if he was watching the players at any time, Ferrell recalled a moment when Lakers player Kobe Bryant saw him from the court.

“And you see Kobe there, they’re in a timeout. And Kobe’s like, what?” said Ferrell whilst trying to mimic Kobe’s confused look. “What is he doing?”
Will Ferrell has been a fan of the Lakers for quite some time now. Though he and Kobe were not as close, they still knew each other and respected each other. The late legend once claimed that Will Ferrell should play him in a movie.
However, Kevin Hart and Hollywood Actor Dwayne Johnson share a close friendship today, thanks in part to Kobe’s efforts.
