What is the hallmark of a “great friendship”? How do you prove that you’re “great friends” with someone? Would it be as simple as knowing the color of their couch? Well, that was the question Sir Charles found himself staring down recently, with the Inside The NBA crew. Charles Barkley was faced with the hilarious prospect of having to “prove” his closeness with Max Homa, as he stopped by the studio.
Well, the Inside the NBA crew didn’t waste the opportunity and tried to get a word in from Homa over their friendship. Even though it meant putting Barkley in an awkward spot, Kenny Smith and Barkley’s godfather Ernie Johnson proceeded to eagerly grill Barkley on their relationship.
As someone who loves golf, Barkley’s purported friendship with Homa makes a lot of sense. However, his claim that they are really “tight” was the point of contention for the crew. Kenny Smith brought up Chuck’s claims so Homa could clarify if they are very close friends. The NBA veteran is puzzled his friend can co-host with his question. Smith said, “Well Max, good luck but I wanna ask, since Chuck has been bragging about how you guys are great friends. If it’s okay, if I could give him one question to see how well he knows Max? What color is Max’s couch in his living room? Since you’re such good friends.” Barkley was infuriated by this question as he proceeded to defend himself and his friendship with Homa. He said, “First of all…I’ve never been to his house.”

The verdict was out as soon as he said that and Smith added, “You’re not good friends.” Homa also jumped in on their banter with a hilarious response. He said, “I don’t have a mansion so Chuck’s not coming by.”
Ernie Johnson takes a dig at Charles Barkley’s friendship with Max Homa
Johnson asked, “How good a friend are you two? Charles says you guys are incredibly tight.” Homa said, “I love Charles, he’s got the best energy.” The 33-year-old then revealed one particular incident that brought Barkley down in his books, other than that, they’re as solid as the NBA veteran claims.

He said, “He did do the unforgivable where he became a member in the very first member event he won it with Thunder Bay and Marley, which is a big no no. It’s the first time he has ever gone down in my book, but other than that, yeah, he’s a pretty good dude.” Sir Charles said that they made up for that error this time around as he couldn’t get the same number of strokes and ended up in fifth position.
