Love for golf has no borders for Charles Barkley. The NBA pro-turned-analyst is an avid golfer, though his skills on the greens leave a lot to be desired. He nonetheless counts major golf stars among his friends. Even if they’re opponents, Barkley’s going to cheer for his friends. He recently showed up in the stands at a championship event to make his support known for a European golf pro. This same golfer is going into business with someone Sir Charles used to play golf with.
Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy has history with Charles Barkley. He’s also projected to win the Ryder Cup this year. During a press event for the championship, Chuck stopped by to wish him luck in his own way.

The Ryder Cup is set to be a thrilling match in Rome this September. Northern Irish golfer, Rory McIlroy is predicted as the frontrunner for the championship. On August 26, the golfer was at a press conference where he was surprised by a friend. His cheerleader who showed himself was none other than golf addict, Charles Barkley.
Barkley barked a “Good luck at the Ryder Cup” to McIlroy. But the golfer was apparently shocked and asked, “Do you really mean that?” The NBA star doubled down, “I really mean that. Hey, I don’t pull for teams. I pull for guys like yourself.”

The interaction was shared via CBS. Barkley was with the network’s commentators only moments before where he taunted McIlroy’s injury.
When they met on the course, the Philadelphia 76ers legend asked the Ryder contender how his back was. McIlroy gave an ambiguous “okay.” But Chuck’s been keeping an eye on him and he believes the injury isn’t holding him back.
“I think you’re lying,” Barkley accused the golfer. After all, the Chuckster has high hopes from the 34-year-old.

McIlroy has a lot of things coming in the next few months.
The most anticipated is his new golf league, TGL, which will launch in 2024. He co-owns the TGL with Tiger Woods, who used to be Barkley’s friend before unilaterally ending the friendship. The Irish pro is also eyeing the FedEx championship.
His immediate goal, of course, is the Ryder Cup which he’s a lock for. Despite his hurting back and limitations, he’s showing impressive form.
