While being typically a quiet time, the summer months have been extremely generous for basketball fans this year. Whether it was a shocking free agency, the NBA Draft, or the FIBA World Cup, the cycle has been entertaining. Speaking of the World Cup, Canada just struck fear into the hearts of all competitors. While not usually included in the prestigious NBA franchises list, the Houston Rockets have been consistently solid for a long time now. Moreover, they have a huge cast of all-time greats to boot in their ranks. Whether it was Hakeem Olajuwon in the 90s or Tracy McGrady in the 00s, the team has boasted iconic superstars throughout its time.

However, the majority of the 2010’s decade in H-town saw one man’s rule- James Harden. Whether it was his array of crossovers or elite scoring ability, Harden mesmerized everyone. But his signature move became more iconic than the man himself. Emulated by many, perfected by one, the step back 3 became Harden’s kill shot.

Now, as Team Canada thoroughly dominated Lebanon in a Dream Team-esque performance, the iconic move made a comeback. For Rockets fans, it was a moment to rejoice. One of their two prized additions to the squad in free agency, Dillon Brooks, nailed a step-back 3 from the right wing as time expired at halftime.

As the buzzer sounded, the scoreboard read 66-30, which meant that Canada, with a triumphant statement, has arrived. At the end of the game, the margin was worse, 128-73. Boasting names like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and RJ Barrett, the team could turn out to be a threat to the “sorry-a**” Team USA.

Leading the way is, surprisingly, Dillon Brooks.
