Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been under the scanner ever since his firearm controversy. Additionally, the star has maintained a low-key profile and remained almost inactive on social media for weeks. However, the 23-year-old hooper recently broke his silence on social media after a major update engulfed the NBA world on the first day of free agency. While Morant expressed his delight at the new update, fans had their ways to troll him.

Even though the Grizzlies put up a great show in the regular season of its 2022-23 campaign, the Los Angeles Lakers knocked them out in the first round of the postseason. Apart from losing the series, Ja Morant faced a lot of backlash for his controversial actions off the court. However, recent updates ahead of the upcoming season could help Morant start with a clean slate.

A few days back, the Boston Celtics shocked the hoops community after trading out Marcus Smart to the Grizzlies. As fans discussed ‌the Memphis franchise’s strengthened roster, another update took the fans’ excitement to the next level. Meanwhile, Ja Morant, who remained silent on social media for 49 days, expressed his delight at the free agency update. 

According to Shams Charania, senior NBA insider of The Athletic, 34-year-old Derrick Rose signed a two-year contract with the Grizzlies. Following the update, Morant retweeted an edited image of himself and Rose on his Twitter. 

Notably, moments after he retweeted the image, the star deleted the tweet and uploaded it again, turning off the comments this time.

Furthermore, the excitement was palpable among fans as two of the most athletically gifted NBA stars over the years joined forces.
