Philadelphia fans are widely known to be a hostile bunch. They have often been branded as the worst fan base in the USA. While the assessment is up for debate it is no surprise that the state has some hardcore fans, as they are one of the six major cities to win a national league in 4 different sports. Regardless of their temperament, Philly fans are extremely loyal, but at the same time very vocal.

Philadelphia 76ers fans might have it the worst as their team hasn’t won a championship since 1983. And with all the recent successes not amounting to anything but an early playoff exit, it was about time they found a scapegoat, which they have in Joel Embiid‘s teammate.

Tobias Harris bears the brunt of Philly fans

Drafted in 2011 as the 19th overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks, Tobias Harris has become a staple within the league. Suiting up for 4 different teams since being drafted, Harris was yet to find a home before Philly. Though he signed a 5-year deal with the team in 2019, things have not gone to plan so far.

Now in his final year of that contract he finds himself in perilous waters. With many fans calling for his trade, Harris seems to have had enough, clapping back at them and stating. “Casual Sixers fans, they’ll trade me for a Crumble Cookie.”

Overshadowed by the likes of Embiid and James Harden, Tobias has actually been decent for the 76ers. Contributing a lot to the team during his time, Harris has become a scapegoat, which led him to fire back at the fans.

Speaking to NBC Sports Philadelphia about his trade rumors Harris stated, “At the end of the day they have to realize you?re not getting a 6?9 forward who can shoot damn near 40% from 3, guard the other team?s best player, shoot, post-up, drive.”

Fans react to Harris lashing out at them

While Tobias Harris isn’t completely wrong about his assessment, jibing with the fans was clearly not the best option here. Many fans were quick to note that he could be a valuable trade piece, instead of paying a multi-million-dollar deal, with one stating. “We do not care please trade him you not worth 40M$ this year.

Another fan was seen using a Jimmy Butler meme with the now infamous statement, “Tobias Harris over me?” being used. This reaction from Butler was prompted after Harris was preferred in Philly over the ECF MVP.

A fan was actually willing to trade him for a cookie as he asked, “What kinda Crumbl cookie are you talking about????”

While many fans were critical towards Tobias there was one who showed love for him stating, “They needed to be called out bc that fanbase is so quick to call a top 15 player in the league a bum.”
