“Wasn’t Sleeping… Wasn’t Eating”: Troubled by 6-Month-Old Son’s Poor Health, Michael Jordan’s Daughter Unveils “Turning Point” of Motherhood

In 2019, NBA legend Michael Jordan officially became a grandfather after his daughter Jasmine gave birth to a baby boy. Married to former NBA player Rakeem Christmas, the couple named their child Rakeem Michael Christmas after his father and grandfather.

Jasmine Jordan is Michael’s daughter from his first marriage to Juanita Vanoy. Youngest of the three children, Jasmine is the eldest of MJ’s three daughters. The businesswoman recently revealed the challenges she faced as a mother. And what her turning point was in motherhood.

Eldest daughter of Michael Jordan recalls her first real test as a mother

Appearing on an episode of the ‘Birth Queen‘ podcast, Jasmine opened up on the trials of parenting. This came after the host of the podcast asked her, “What was your biggest push moment?“, to which Jasmine stated, “I think my biggest push moment was probably the first time my son got sick.”

Shedding some light on the incident she revealed, “He was about six months, he wasn’t sleeping, he wasn’t eating, I was breastfeeding, and he wouldn’t take any milk.”

She further revealed that her son had a fever of 103 degrees Fahrenheit. The 30-year-old recalled her initial feelings, stating, “I was like okay let me get the medicine going, let me go ahead schedule the doctor’s appointment and I remember sitting there like praying okay take your nap go to sleep.”

Not able to make him feel better, Jasmine remembers questioning her abilities as a mother stating, “I was like maybe I am not doing the right things as his mother.”

Certainly sounds like a difficult reality to grapple with. Thankfully, with time Jasmine revealed that things got better.

Jasmine Jordan reveals her turning point in motherhood

Already questioning her role as a mother and not able to do much for her son, the young mother rushed her son to his pediatrician. Revealing that the pediatrician soon put him to sleep, Jasmine recalled the experience.

“She got him his medicines, did a little rock, like I was just watching her, and she clearly was a mom. Knocked out. He straight went to sleep.” Jasmine was not able to control her emotions, which the pediatrician saw right through and asked the young mother to let her heart out.

Jasmine recalls that moment serving as a turning point in her life as she realized that she didn’t know everything. Jordan recalls thinking to herself “I need to lean on my tribe, lean on those around me and everything will be alright.”

4 years later, the mother is stronger than ever and is contemplating having another child.
