He made his debut with them back in 2017 and has been a consistent scorer for them throughout the seasons. As an insider, he is at the forefront of knowing who’s getting traded and going where. Jayson Tatum put up a story hinting at the move of Marcus Smart away from the Celtics. In the story, Jayson Tatum posted a picture of him and Marcus Smart embracing each other, surrounded by fans and the audience. The picture is from when he and Smart won the Eastern Conference Finals in 2022 with the Boston Celtics.
He wrote, “My dawg Forever grateful for you and how you pushed me and helped me along this journey. Never change keep being you, one of a kind can never be replaced! My brotha for life We gone link back up one day and get us one no doubt about that! Until then, Much love Brodie!”
For Tatum, this trade is especially difficult because he has only ever played in a team with Marcus and has played with him through all six of the seasons. But Marcus reciprocates the feeling.

The trade is an emotional “gut punch” to Marcus Tatum as well
By the time the Instagram story reached the fans, the news was official. According to some reports, Marcus didn’t even know that the deal was going through until about fifteen minutes before the trade actually happened. Others are calling the trade a “gut punch”. With the trade, Marcus goes to the Memphis Grizzlies. Other sources are noting how Marcus really liked the Boston Celtics and he wanted to remain there until his retirement.
