Shaquille O’Neal is known across the world over for his time with the NBA. Although one of the most dominant and well recognized players, Shaq did not rest on his laurels. While his alter ego DJ Diesel is sending waves through the EDM world, this isn’t his first musical rodeo. Infact, Shaq is a well-known rapper with a platinum record to his name.

Releasing his first album ‘Shaq Diesel’ in 1993 the record went platinum earning Shaq quite a reputation. Delivering another three albums in succession, the big man was on top of the world. Featuring alongside big names such as Notorious B.I.G and Wu Tang Clan, Shaq could have had another New York legend to his list, if not for a failed clearance.

During a recent appearance on the ‘Revolt’ podcast, Shaq sat alongside N.O.R.E to discuss various topics. One such subject of intrigue was Shaq’s rap career and his run-ins with the finest from New York.

During an age where the beef between the East and West Coast dominated rap headlines, Shaq was firmly set with the East. Although later going on to forge great relationships in Los Angeles, Shaq was questioned on his earlier days in the music industry.

Going to reveal that Shaq was the first artist to ever have NAS, Biggie and Jay-Z on a record together, N.O.R.E questioned the big man about the record asking him, Why didn’t the record come out like that? When it came out what was it? Jay and Big? Shaq confirmed that Nas was in fact on the record, but it never got cleared.

Going on to reveal that the record was called No love lost, Shaq stated that he didn’t take the record not being cleared personally. In fact, he revealed he was excited to work with such huge personalities.

Although a future rendition was possible Shaq revealed how his $400 million dollar ‘ego’ got in the way. As he revealed in his own words, “Not to disrespect you guys, it wasn’t enough money in there for me.”

Regardless of the failed collaboration Shaq introduces the King of New York

If you are into hip-hop music and don’t know NAS, then you can be branded as a casual. Known the world over for his genius lyrical rhyme schemes and master flows the rapper is known as the ‘King of New York’.

Although Shaq was never able to release the single with him, the big man does not seem to hold a grudge. In a recent story of his, Shaq exposed his 30 million followers to the New York legend, as he shared a snippet of his song Hate me Now. While their single never saw the light of day, how would you like the two to do a duet now?
