NBA players are popular for dabbling in different professions. There are several who have gone on to have music empires as well as those who have made huge returns as investors.  Then, of course, there are those who have tried their hands at different sports. With their worlds so close and sometimes coming together, there’s always the chance of personalities from different genres of entertainment intersecting. This happened in a strange way between icons Damian Lillard and French Montana.

When Ed Lover sat down for a chat with VladTV back in 2021, the conversation veered on to rappers v NBA players and Lover did not hold back.

Damian Lillard receives praise for his rapping skills

The 60-year-old rapper had a long winding conversation about several aspects of Dame’s NBA and music careers. It all started when the host asked Ed’s opinion about French Montana’s idea that breaking into the hip-hop industry is harder than making the NBA.

As the conversation continued, he finally said, “French Montana, please, shut the f*ck up. Damian Lilian got better vibe skills than you, Homie. Boo-Ya-Ka, yeah, I said it.”

Lover continued about Damian Lillard, “If you give me MC to MC, Dame Lillard will bust Montana’s a**.”

Some NBA players have ventured into the world of music and have been successful. Shaquille O’Neal has ventured out as DJ Diesel. Damian Lillard has a flourishing career in the world of music as Dame D.O.L.L.A as well.  He has also voiced the character of Chronos in the 2021 movie, Space Jam: A New Legacy.

So, while Damian’s basketball skills are unquestionable, his rapping skills have proven to be worth noting as well. All the people involved in what could be a beef are super talented. Ed Lover has been on the music scene since the late eighties. French Montana came on the scene decades later, in the early noughts.
