One of the biggest moves of the offseason happened on the night of the 2023 NBA draft. The Golden State Warriors and the Washington Wizards traded Jordan Poole for Chris Paul in one of the blockbuster deals of the season. While many questioned the decision of the new GM, Klay Thompson seems to be eager to welcome CP3.

Both Klay and Stephen Curry are set to participate in a golf match against their NFL counterparts. During the event Thompson was asked about the trade. Revealing very little, Klay was more cryptic compared to his teammate Draymond Green.

Many have been wondering as to why Poole was sent the other way for an ageing Chris Paul. Mostly a point guard, CP3 will likely play alongside either Curry or Thompson. But the main question is how he will fit in with Draymond Green. Being open about his relationship with CP3, Green stated, “I don’t like CP at all, we don’t have a good relationship at all,” during his podcast.

Regardless of this bleak history, Klay was questioned on the trade, and according to the Athletic, he seemed coy towards the matter. In a cryptic statement that can go both ways, Thompson stated, “At least we got Chris Paul. Now I know Chris might be a double-digit handicap. When he joined our team, I told him, ?Finally someone I can beat on the links.? Andre and Steph are on a different level.”

This opportunity may as well be seen as Chris Paul’s last shot at winning an NBA championship. An incredible player and an amazing leader, CP would surely be a great fit to the team. But with him having a turbulent relationship with veterans on the team, it is going to be an interesting season in the Bay Area.
