There’s a big shuffle happening over ESPN. And the word of it is getting all over the social media handles of everyone with the sport. Only this time, it isn’t happening in the fields that they cover, but behind the scenes and the camera. The changes have an NBA connection, with no one but two NBA legends.
The rumors coming in are that ESPN is replacing their top game analyst, Jeff Van Gundy. Along with Jeff, Jalen Rose will be bidding goodbye to the channel as well. Jeff is all set to be replaced by someone who is quite popular in the world of basketball – and that’s because he has played on the courts with the best.
ESPN plans to replace Gundy with LeBron’s teammate

That someone is none other than LeBron James‘ former teammate, JJ Redick. Redick is in the news quite a few times for being linked with the top names in and outside the game. Redick is pretty good friends with the musician Drake.

While it is all conjecture at this point in time, JJ isn’t the only name that’s in contention. Along with his name, some rumors are also putting in names like Doris Burke and Richard Jefferson.
An analyst role works best for a retired NBA player
Post-retirement, most NBA Legends are comfortable becoming analysts. Not only are they still with the game, but they also work towards enhancing the game and bringing out new facets to it. Of course, some analysts and commentators make controversial comments; but several players respect the analyst’s concepts and ideas.

ESPN might find replacing Jeff Van Gundy a tough task. Fans consider him to be one of the finest analysts in the world. So, whoever does come in will have some big shoes to fill in. Apart from being a successful analyst, Van Gundy also coached New York Knicks and Houston Rockets.
