After a controversial stint with the Brooklyn Nets, 8x All-Star Kyrie Irving joined forces with Luka Doncic in Dallas last season. Despite the possible risk of losing him in the 2023 free agency, Mark Cuban did not hesitate to bring Irving to Dallas. However, the results after his arrival were far from what the fans expected. The disappointing end to the season has fueled rumors that the point guard could be on the move again. But is there a possibility of Irving reuniting with LeBron James? One former NBA star does not think so.
The 2023 free agency is all set to start on June 30 and it could be a memorable one, with so many superstars on the market. The likes of James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Draymond Green, among other stars, could be on the move, bringing a shift in power in the league.

Kyrie Irving and LeBron James were one of the best duos in the league during their time together for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The two helped the Cavs lift their first-ever NBA title in 2016. So as long as James and Irving are in the league, there will be stories of them reuniting even though they have had ups and downs in their friendship. That was the case when Irving decided to move from the Brooklyn Nets as well.
It was recently reported that Irving will wear #11 if he re-signs with the Mavs. This apparently shows his intention to re-sign and stay with Luka Doncic and the Mavericks. Despite this, his former teammate Kendrick Perkins talked about a potential team for Irving during a segment on ESPN.

The 2008 NBA champion gave his opinion about a variety of free agents ahead of the free agency. In one instance, the host asked which team Perkins thought would be the best fit for Irving. He replied, “Oh! I know it may be far-fetched, but I gotta go with the Philadelphia 76ers. If they can land Kyrie Irving, that would be everything.”
The sportscaster added, “Kyrie Irving is still five stars. When he touches on that floor, his capability of putting up buckets and taking over in the fourth quarter is the best in the game outside of De’Aaron Fox.”

Perkins also noted that the ability of 76ers stars like Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey to play off the ball makes this the perfect fit.
