It’s been just over a week since the 2023 NBA draft. All the rookies are slowly settling into their new teams and cities. While San Antonio Spurs starlet Victor Wembanyama grabbed most of the limelight, the 38th pick in the draft also drew a good response from the media and NBA fans. The Boston Celtics picked the University of Arkansas’ Jordan Walsh. Recently, Walsh met some of his teammates and Grant Williams made an interesting first impression.
Williams commented on the 19-year-old, who suffers from Alopecia, during one of their practice sessions, and their interesting conversation was revealed by Walsh himself.

Grant Williams has a knack for talking trash. This was more than obvious when the Celtics took on the Miami Heat in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals. Although it is debatable whether Williams’ trash talk against Jimmy Butler really worked, there is no denying that he does not back off from a fight.
Not only his opponents, but it seems like Williams likes to nudge his teammates as well. The media interviewed the Celtics’ 38th pick, Jordan Walsh, recently.
Roughly a week after the draft, Walsh had already had some training sessions. When asked whether he had met any Celtics stars like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the 19-year-old revealed an interaction he had with Grant Williams.
However, the interaction wasn’t very pleasant for Walsh, who suffers from Alopecia. According to the rookie, Williams had something to say about his physical appearance.
Walsh said, “Yeah, I talked to Grant (Williams). He told me I was built like a, what’d he say? Like a bug!” The 2022 Oscars made it clear how certain people feel about Alopecia jokes.
It seems Walsh took it more in stride.
Celtics fans can be excited about Walsh
Jordan Walsh was an absolute unit for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Although he wasn’t necessarily the best player on the team, Walsh never backed off from diving for the loose balls and making hustle plays.

With a frame of 6-foot-7 inches, the Texas native oddly resembles Marcus Smart’s playstyle. The 2022 DPOY was recently traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, leaving a vacuum in terms of perimeter defense for the Boston Celtics. Walsh is a great on-ball defender who can apply pressure as well. Considering the Celtics’ switch-heavy tactics, he will be an asset to their future.
