Michael Jordan selling his majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets put him in a completely different stratosphere monetarily. Before the $3 billion sale, His Airness had himself a $2 billion fortune. The only man close enough was LeBron James, who became the second NBA billionaire. However, after dropping the Hornets from his portfolio, there is no match for Jordan among his peers. Just when it seemed to be a win for MJ, King James‘ recent move might prove he doesn’t even care about being on equal footing with the Chicago Bulls legend.

While the Los Angeles Lakers forward contemplates the next stage of his basketball career, he has an ongoing project that can only be described as his ‘dream’. But to achieve his vision, the 19-time All-Star had to erase $37 million in a flash.

Since the loss to the Denver Nuggets, basketball stans have awaited James’ decision. He left the series by potentially dropping a hint of his retirement. From that moment, James has been rather disconnected from the game. Instead, the four-time MVP is relishing the offseason, enjoying his France vacation.

But while he is having the time of his life in France, a major project is taking place in Los Angeles. According to The Sun, the Lakers forward demolished his $37 million LA mansion. James did so in order to build his ‘dream home’ on the Beverley Hills land.

Accumulating a billion-dollar fortune and countless successful business ventures, LeBron James soaked in the life of riches. He purchased the mansion in 2020. The property spanned 2.5 acres of land. It came equipped with eight bathrooms, seven fireplaces, and even two guesthouses. Moreover, a wide variety of amenities such as a tennis court and a swimming pool grazed the compound.

It looked down at the iconic Beverley Hills and also had a view of the Pacific Ocean. James bought the lavish home for $2 million less than its asking price in 2020. But now, he wants to upgrade his luxurious mansion into a home of his dreams. After securing all the permits, pictures of the barren land where once sat his incredible mansion were revealed.

Nonetheless, LeBron James has two more properties in Los Angeles where he will most likely stay during the time of construction on his Beverley Hills land. But this project might indicate how James isn’t motivated to beat out Michael Jordan’s multi-billion net worth. After all, the four-time champion is a family man and worships his loved ones.
