Despite delivering superstar level performance for the team, Lillard couldn’t take his team to the playoffs for two consecutive years. The star averaged 32.2 points in the recently completed season. After exiting the season in the regular season, Dame provided clear signs on his intentions to cut ties of his 11-season-long relationship with the Blazers.

After months of hinting, he finally made his official request to the Blazers for a trade out and recent updates revealed that the Miami Heat is his go-to franchise.

However, Dame’s request might have come in a little late as two major updates reveal that the Heat cannot accommodate the 32-year-old star.

According to Jake Weinbach, a senior NBA writer, it will take some time for the star to find a spot in the Heat roster. He tweeted, “The Heat don’t have enough assets to please the Blazers.”

Dame’s intentions to move to the Heat sinks into darkness after the update.

Will Blazers look beyond Heat?

While there is an update on lack of assets from the Heat to strike a deal with Dame, another update can be a final nail in the coffin for his Heat dream.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Blazers want to look beyond Heat.
