Reincarnation of the NYC Hall of Fame
The NYC Basketball HOF required a revival after six years of stagnation because of the demise of most of the founding founders. It was an all-star lineup that included Tom Konchalski, Cecil Watkins, Bob Williams, and Howard Garfinkel. The new creators, led by President Nate Archibald and CEO Michael Cohen, upgraded the HOF to hoopshallny.org. According to Tom Lockhart, the organization’s secretary general, they are seeking a location that will house both a physical hall of fame and the 2024 induction ceremony.
Tom Lockhart plans to organize the ceremony next summer at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan, which has previously hosted induction ceremonies. He created a sportscaster category to commemorate ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, as well as an Arts and Culture event to honor filmmaker Spike Lee, actor Denzel Washington, and novelist Charley Rosen.
