Both camps are interested in finalizing a deal at the earliest and it seems like they are not the only ones involved in this blockbuster of a deal.

According to ESPN Insider, Marc J Spears, the seven-time NBA All-Star wants to only join the Miami Heat. Jimmy Butler’s side fell short in the NBA Finals against the Denver Nuggets a month ago. Lillard’s addition might just make them one of the strongest contenders for next season.
Spears also revealed that this blockbuster deal might involve over five teams. “I’m told that while Portland isn’t happy with potential packages, there are over five teams interested in a potential multi-team trade that could get it done”, said Spears in an interview with ESPN.

This deal has the potential to break the largest NBA trade deal in history. The Miami Heat, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Hornets, Boston Celtics, and Utah Jazz agreed on a massive trade involving 13 players in 2005. Most notably, Jason Williams joined the Heat.
18 years later, history might repeat itself. Although there is no timeline for this deal, experts all around the world see only one result coming out; Lillard joining forces with Butler.
The Trail Blazers do not benefit from the Heat
Damian Lillard has made his preferred destination known to the front office, but the Trail Blazers might not come out of this deal with a lot. The Heat doesn’t have a package of young players and draft assets that’s very appealing to Portland, as per Bleacher Report.

An offer of Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, and draft picks might already be on the table for Portland. However, this deal is more complicated than what meets the eye.
