In the era of socials, fans can interact with the athletes like it is a conversation in a casual place. Since many NBA stars are active NBA posters and also reply to conversations, they themselves become a participant in the debates. For a decade now, Kevin Durant has been actively debating many of his doubters and this has resulted in many viral moments. He doesn’t hold back on his opinions at any point.

This attitude led to another Twitter battle between the superb scorer and the fans of his former team.

Another day, another Kevin Durant tussle online

KD had tweeted that “Nets fans are obsessed with me”. Not known for mincing words and calling out haters, Kevin Durant engaged in an intense chatter against the operators of the Twitter account, Brooklyn Netscast, who responded to this statement. The Twitter accounts, as the name suggests, cater to the Brooklyn Nets fanbase.

KD not only engaged with the account handle itself, but he also traded blows with the Nets fans in the comments. He also responded “Shut ya friendly a** up” to a commenter who believed that the superstar never acknowledged “real” Nets fans.

This ugly spat between fans and KD has become a regular fixture. The fallout from the Nets fans isn’t dissimilar to how Oklahoma City Thunder fans felt after the departure of their scoring champion. Back then, Durant was caught using burner accounts to defend himself and the practice has continued. He’s someone who feels unsettled when a lot of hatred pours his way. This can lead to the battles like the one with the Nets loyalists repeatedly.

Having played for the Nets from 2019 to 2023, the phenomenal Wing carried the load alone many times. He formed a super team with James Harden and Kyrie Irving, which flailed because of injuries and chemistry issues. So, he had asked for a trade last year but the Nets management convinced him to stay. But he had enough of them. Which is why they traded him during the mid-season.

Will the Suns experience be like the Warriors one?

Currently playing for the Suns, he has landed in yet another super team, especially after the addition of Bradley Beal. Once again, the problems of his last super team can replicate. Devin Booker and Beal both love to have a ball lot in their hands, like Irving and Harden. It will be interesting which one of these three makes the biggest adjustment to the game.

At any rate, it doesn’t mean that adjustments can’t be made and super teams’ failures are set in stone. The scoring legend himself won two championships with the Warriors alongside Curry, Thompson, and Green. Beal has shown the tendency to adjust so another special run can come for the Durantala.

A more pertinent question can be if KD will have the bitter same farewell with his current team as he had with the Nets and the Thunder. He is unquestionably a top-tier player but he is yet to forge a solid relationship with a franchise’s fanbase.
