In the recent episode of the podcast “From the Point” by Trae Young, Lou Williams talked about some memorable moments in his life and career. Among these moments was the time when the star met Jay-Z.

While narrating the story of the 17-year-old Lou Williams meeting Jay-Z, he mentioned LeBron James‘ role in facilitating it. “The whole set-up was cool for me as a high school kid because I met Jay-Z through LeBron.”

He expressed his gratefulness over meeting him and how well he was treated by the superstar rapper and his team. “I spent like 2.5-3 Hours chilling with Jay-Z”

The All-time leader in bench scoring and 3 x Sixth Man of the Year further revealed how the encounter was super nice and Jay-Z even went on to wish him luck with everything. “I met him in the back, shook his hand. He told me good luck with everything”, he said.

He narrated the story of his meeting with Jay-Z through LeBron. It was during his rookie year when LeBron helped Lou to get to the rapper. LeBron was in Atlanta for his game around the same time as Jay-Z’s concert in the same city. This was the time LeBron asked Mav to stay in Atlanta to get him to the show. What’s more, the star player was still in high school figuring out his career path and life.

A reason for Lou William’s success

Lou, who retired this June after 17 years in the NBA, has previously stated that meeting Jay-Z convinced him to forego college basketball and go straight to the league. The star was supposed to play at the University of Georgia but finally declared himself for the NBA 2005 draft. He revealed how one night with Maverick Carter and LeBron James convinced him that he didn’t need to stay in the classroom anymore.

Lou was picked up by the Philadelphia 76ers, for whom he played until 2012. This was before he signed in free agency with his hometown team, Atlanta Hawks. Since then, he has played for Philadelphia, Toronto, the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston, The Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta.
