Rich Paul has established himself as one of the finest sports agents. Without having a college degree, Paul could carve his name among the best in the business. He rubs shoulders with top-grade athletes and LeBron James’ name is connected to him.

While on a sitdown interview with Jake Paul, he talked about a host of issues, including his book release, stories surrounding LeBron James, and what he did before being an agent. He also laid bare his method of dealing with the egos of athletes.

Appearing in the show BS w/ Jake Paul, Paul was asked about the tough but necessary conversations he has with the athletes. And Rich had a very witty reply. He said he tells the athletes, “You are not as good as you think you are.” This had Jake Paul burst into laughter. When Rich tried to add that he tries to have such conversations in a not-so-straightforward manner, Jake Paul showed agreement. Jake also shared that his manager tries to use a similar method for him.

Rich Paul tried to further explain that if a person is not able to make a correct assessment of his value, he is wasting his time. He shared that if a person is a $20 million player, he would not like him to feel that his value is greater. Additionally, he revealed that there was nothing wrong with the lesser market worth of the player as long as he was getting a correct vision of himself.

Paul did not just share this method, but he went deeper as to why it is needed in the business of dealing with big athletes.

The sports agent went on to explain that being honest helps the players not get deceived by their egos. He said, “You are saving someone from themselves.” Explaining further, he shared that he tends to make athletes realize their true value and make decisions correspondingly.

And how does that go down with the athletes? Rich shared that athletes rush him to tell him how he is correct about things. Further, he talked about stressing the athletes not to keep comparing themselves with better-valued athletes in business and investments.
