The Las Vegas Aces defeated the Chicago Sky with a final score of 94-87 after pulling off a miraculous comeback in the third quarter. The Aces, who were down by 13 points at the half, dominated the third quarter to take a lead.
Jackie Young emerged as the Aces’ best performer, with 24 points and 10 rebounds. A’ja Wilson and Chelsea Gray, a potent duo who both had terrific double-doubles, contributed to the Aces’ comeback. Wilson’s 18 points and 10 rebounds together with Gray’s 19 points and 10 assists highlighted their crucial roles in the team’s triumph. Notably, Young reached her career’s 2,000-point milestone during this game.
The third quarter’s stunning performance by Kelsey Plum turned the tide for Las Vegas. She added 14 of her 23 total points during this time. Her onslaught of four 3-pointers in the third quarter helped the Aces take a 70-68 lead into the fourth.
However, it was during the third quarter that A’ja Wilson lost her shoe mid-game.
A’ja Wilson, in the third quarter, attempted to stop a pass from Courtney Williams to Alanna Smith. Unfortunately, she suffered an unexpected setback when she lost her right shoe in the middle of the game. She was unable to stop the pass and even though Williams couldn’t get the shot in after acquiring the ball from Smith, Marina Mabrey caught hold of the ball and made a shot.
However, losing her shoe didn’t deter her from playing. Even though the Sky held onto the ball with dear life, Wilson tried her best to play defense with one shoe.
Despite this, the Aces went on to win the game. They even set a new record!

This accomplishment is even more remarkable given the expanded WNBA schedules, where teams now play a record 40 games per season.
