The NBA expansion is getting hot really fast. With Shaquille O’Neal joining the list of potential candidates, there are a lot of takers. With betting getting legal status, the financial side of things is going to be big. Shaq implied just as much. But LeBron James is like a hound when it comes to the NBA expansion.
He has been following it for a very long time, going as far as appealing directly to Adam Silver in the middle of media day, press conferences, and basically anywhere he can get the NBA commissioner’s attention. He has certainly got our attention.

Following the Lakers’ 129-126 preseason win over Brooklyn in Las Vegas on Monday, the King explains why he’s so interested in owning a team in the city. “It just makes sense”, he said. “Obviously, you have the Raiders here, you have the Knights here, you have the Aces here, you got F1 coming very soon. LeBron has done his homework. The Liberty Media Sports empire’s primary asset is the F1 circuit, with an enterprise value of $17.1 billion. In the NFL team evaluations list, Las Vegas Raiders rank number six, with a team value of $6.2 billion. Jimmy Garoppolo‘s addition to Tom Brady’s Raiders should have a positive impact on the team as a whole. With three playoff appearances and two Super Bowl appearances, Garoppolo brings valuable experience to the team.

Explaining further his keen interest, James said, “I think adding an NBA franchise here would just add to the momentum that’s going on in this town. You don’t have to worry about getting fan support. It’s only right”. There’s no changing that man’s mind now.

Though Adam Silver hasn’t confirmed anything yet, he hasn’t dismissed any of the ‘n’ number of predictions and ideas that are flowing from all sides. In fact, Silver has confirmed that “there’s enormous interest in this (Las Vegas) market.” But he is the NBA commissioner. There are a lot of aspects to consider before jumping headlong into a project. No matter how right it looks.
