Meet Timothy Young, Trae Young‘s younger brother, who’s already making waves at the young age of 13. Tim plays for Team Trae Young, an AAU club founded by Trae in 2018 to help local youth basketball players develop their skills. The program caters to middle and high school students. This isn’t just any team–it’s a family affair with pops, Rayford Young, running the show as director.
Tim’s got serious skills that are turning heads. In an Instagram story shared by Trae, he reposted Courtside Films post, where they shared a picture of young Tim along with the caption, “Crazy I wasn’t his height till my senior yr. Gotta lot of room to grow and get better!! Scary. Just the beginning.”

In a recent interview with Taylor Rooks, the All-Star point guard acknowledged the ambiguity regarding his long-term commitment to Atlanta. When directly asked by Rooks about his potential presence next season, Young offered a hesitant “Hopefully?” Drawing a parallel between his college days and his NBA aspirations, Young spoke of his desire to win a championship at Oklahoma. He conveyed a similar ambition to be part of a team’s first-ever title run, stating, “They’d never won a championship in Atlanta,“. He continued, “Me getting drafted there felt like a match made in heaven. Like, this is something I wanna do. I can defeat the odds here, too.”
Trae Young’s been lighting it up this season, putting on a one-man show, but the Atlanta Hawks just haven’t been able to translate that into wins. Whispers about the team shaking things up, maybe even dealing with their star point guard, were swirling before the trade deadline. Despite the question marks around his future with his original team, Young still seems to be picturing himself as the hero bringing the Larry O’Brien trophy home for the first time in Atlanta’s history.
