Nikola Vucevic is a 6’10 Montenegrin center who plays for the Chicago Bulls in the NBA. The 32-year-old is a two-time All-Star in the NBA and a central piece on the Bulls roster. Complimenting All-Stars Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan on the Bulls, the Montenegrin has also established himself as one of the top centers in the NBA.

Vucevic is an impressive shooter from beyond the arc for his size and also displays a gritty post presence. The Montenegrin has not only impressed in the NBA but has also served his nation brilliantly in FIBA tournaments. Vucevic averages 12.1 PPG to go with 5.9 RPG in FIBA tournaments.

He has led Team Montenegro to several deep tournament runs despite its one-game knockout format. He has also upset several talented teams with the underdog Montenegro contingent over the years.

Vucevic also had a strong FIBA World Cup run in 2019, averaging 14.6 PPG and 6.4 RPG. Despite Team Montenegro’s underwhelming performance in that World Cup, Vucevic shined bright. His efforts, however, may prove to be more important in the current World Cup, given his nation’s enhanced opportunity at the event.

Montenegro are definitely not the strongest contenders to win the FIBA World Cup, considering the presence of favorites like Team USA and the Luka Doncic-led Team Slovenia. However, Team Montenegro can provide tough competition to their group. With Lithuania missing their star center, Domantas Sabonis, Vucevic and Team Montenegro can take a major leap.

The team looks impressive already in their very first matchup against Team Mexico. They have looked dominant so far, playing with tremendous confidence and chemistry. The ball movement too, has been phenomenal, which the Mexican contingent have not found an answer for.
