The NBA’s glittering paydays are no secret, but don’t be fooled—these athletes aren’t just cash-rich; many are incredibly shrewd when it comes to handling their fortunes. Whether it’s LeBron James refusing to spend money on subscriptions or Giannis Antetokounmpo admitting that most things he wears are either fake or given to him, being wise about not spending money on exorbitant things has been a trend in the league. Joining them is the Minnesota Timberwolves’s athletic guard, Anthony Edwards.

Edwards inked a lucrative $217 million contract extension earlier this season, which could potentially rise to $260 million with an All-NBA team selection. However, despite earning over $50 million per season, Edwards is not the one to splurge cash on material things.

During an appearance on Complex Sports, the 22-year-old hilariously divulged that he often sports fake jewelry because no one would question its legitimacy since he was the one wearing it. And you know what? He might just be onto a genius move there. While talking about an image of him wearing two chains, the shooting guard said, “That’s two chains, but the little one is like some bulls**t for real. It really was fake, it just look real…People going to think it real anyway cuz it’s me.”

When interviewer Speedy Morman asked if the earrings he was wearing during the interview were fake, Edwards stated, “Fake. It just look good.” However, he further revealed that his AE chain is real. While Edwards admits to wearing fake jewelry, Ja Morant is out there in court flaunting “real” diamonds.

“Millionaire” Ja Morant flaunts “real” diamonds

Ja Morant’s NBA return is just around the corner, with the Memphis Grizzlies star slated to take the court on December 19. However, currently, he is embroiled in a civil lawsuit. During testimony, the prosecutor asked Morant if the necklace he gifted to his friend had real diamonds. To which Morant stated, “Yeah. I mean, I’m a millionaire.”

Morant was suspended for 25 games by the league for flashing a firearm twice in three months. In the absence of their high-flying guard, the Grizzlies are struggling with one of the worst records this season. They have dropped to 14th place, with just 6 wins and 18 losses this season. With Ja being the primary orchestrator of the team’s offense, his absence created a significant void. Taking responsibility for their abysmal form, Ja said, “I take full responsibility of that. Obviously even though I’m not on the floor, the decisions I made didn’t allow me to be out there to go to battle with my team.”
