With a history of being sidelined for injury and with a label of being injury-prone on his head, Anthony Davis came into the 2023 season to change the narratives. So far, he has maintained good health and only missed one game for the Los Angeles Lakers. With that, as the In Season Tournament finale between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Indiana Pacers unfolded, all eyes were on Davis and LeBron James to elevate their games.

Spectacularly, the duo played a pivotal role from the get-go. By the halftime buzzer sounded the Lakers secured a 65-60 lead against the fast-paced youngsters at halftime. However, as the third quarter kicked off, the purple and gold faced a minor setback.

Anthony Davis gives Lakers an injury scare

While the Los Angeles Lakers were striving to extend their lead into the third quarter, they encountered an injury scare. Amid a play, the fans observed Anthony Davis hobbling across the floor. Upon his departure from the action and sitting on the bench, they saw him using a heating pad to, from what it appears, soothe his groin.

Davis suffered a groin injury while battling for a rebound with Buddy Hield and Isaiah Jackson. Nevertheless, it was apparent that AD remained focused on the game, as it didn’t take him long to return to the court.

Davis erupts for a 41-point finale

Anthony Davis appears to be silencing the long-standing skepticism surrounding his toughness and intensity; particularly during the crucial games. Injecting vitality into the Lakers’ dominance, Davis asserted himself as the best player on the court to ultimately lift the NBA Cup. Despite quickly returning to the bench in the third quarter, Davis persevered through the pain to finish the game.

With unrestrained enthusiasm, Davis roared to the crowd whenever he pleased, aggressively stomping against the Pacers. The result was a monstrous performance, as Anthony Davis racked up a 41 points and 20 rebounds double-double. Furthermore, he achieved his player of the game title with remarkable efficiency, 16-24 shooting from the field and tallying 4 blocks.

LeBron James complimented Davis’s standout performance with a double-double of his own; 24 points and 11 rebounds. Furthermore, he did what he loved the most throughout the contest, controlling the momentum and dissecting the game play-by-play.

Adding to the mix was Austin Reaves, who provided an early boost to the squad. Reaves finished with 28 points, 22 of which came in the first half; his most in the initial two quarters ever.
